Beacons are a great way of triggering actions when you enter or exit their limited proximity. Proximity from a beacon is defined by it transmit interval and power, which can normally be defined by using the beacon providers app. When activating this setting for the first time you will need to grant Home Remote access to your location.
This is the Universally Unique Device Identifier (UUID) for the beacon. Enter the beacon's UUID in this field to bind an action to UDID. The UUID is an alpha-numerical combination of 32 character. This UUID can normally be found by using the beacon providers app.
A beacon's UUID can be used across multiple beacons, providing the major and minor version numbers are different. To avoid having to type the beacons UUID in multiple times you can assign it a name. If this name matches a previous name it will populate the Beacon UUID field. This is also used in the notification display for the beacon if it's present.
Used in addition to the beacon's UUID to help differentiate between devices. This major version number can normally be found and set by using the beacon providers app.
Used in addition to the beacon's UUID to help differentiate between devices. This minor version number can normally be found and set by using the beacon providers app.
This option defines whether the action should trigger the action when you enter or leave the beacon's proximity.
This option defines whether you will receive a notification when the action is triggered. It is recommended to turn this on if thesis your first beacon action so you can a feel for when you enter and leave the beacon range.
Notify with Prompt
This option defines whether the notification you receive when the action is triggered calls the action immediately, or prompt the user to activate it. For example, you may not want the lights in your house to turn off every time you leave, as there might be others in the house. This option will require you to swipe on the notification to activate it. If using the Apple Watch, the notification the watch shows will have the buttons visible to call the action. Multiple actions can be assigned to the same beacon, meaning you will receive multiple options.
Operate Between Hours
This will allow you to define when the beacon attribute is active. You can select a start time and end time, or use the sun or sun set options. For example, you may only want your driveway lights to come on when you near your property at night, not during the day. In this instance you would use an activation time of sunset to sunrise.
